The Foundation
the foundation for community access to science

The Foundation for Community Access to Science is an organization with a very simple goal. As the name implies we want to improve the lines of communication between interested amateurs on the one hand and the formal scientific community on the other.

We feel that among other things, interest in science in the general population is not as high as it could or should be. We believe some of the reasons for this disinterest are lack of understanding, intimidation by the subject matter, misunderstandings about the importance and possibly a systemic policy of exclusion fostered by the more mediocre (and perhaps paranoid) members of the scientific community.

We believe that the Internet makes it possible to access a broad cross-section of research and opinion and that the more all interested parties make use of it the more we will see a benefit for the common good. To this end, we want all visitors to our websites to be empowered to "surf" the net in a meaningful way. We hope to provide a roadmap to the more interesting sites.

We want to encourage a serendipitous approach to the browsing experience. By this we mean that if you find an interesting trail, by all means follow it. Some judicious "book marking" of favorite sites is probably a good idea because it is easy to wander so far afield that some of the interesting stops along the way become lost in the shuffle.

We hope to also provide a forum where visitors can exchange ideas. Perhaps you'd like to toss out an interesting theory for comment. Perhaps you'd like to ask questions about topics related to Science, Discovery and any philosophical issues that may be relevant. Let's build a community where the rules are simple. Be generous in you praise, stingy in your criticism, open to new ideas, courteous in your exchanges and let us build and not destroy.

At the foundation we make it a point not to adhere to any dogma. Nor do we want to encourage any radical notions. If anarchy means let's explore and seek out new truths, then we want to encourage it. On the other hand, if anarchy means hurting the system just because we can, without due regard for the welfare of our fellow man, then we are most emphatically opposed. CONDUCT YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY!
